Carriage Bolt Installation Guide: Fastener Selection And Use

Carriage bolts, also known as round head square neck screws, are fasteners that connect two parts with through holes. They consist of a head and a screw (a cylinder with external threads) and need to be used with a nut. The head of a carriage bolt is usually larger, which is convenient for installation with a wrench.

When installing a carriage bolt, you first need to select the appropriate bolt specifications, including the nominal diameter and length. Common diameters range from 5mm to 20mm and lengths range from 15mm to 300mm. Material selection is also important, and common ones are carbon steel, Q235, 45# steel, and stainless steel.

During installation, the bolts need to be inserted into the through holes of the two parts and the nuts are tightened with a wrench. Since the head of the bolt is round and there is no cross slot or hexagonal design, it can play an anti-theft role during the actual connection process.

When installing, pay attention to the following points:
Make sure that the bolt and nut fit tightly to avoid loosening.
When using a wrench, apply force evenly to avoid breaking the bolt.
