Structural characteristics of metal gaskets

Metal gaskets are parts used for sealing, and different types of metal gaskets have different structures.

 

Metal wound gaskets: the gaskets with the best resilience among semi-metallic tight gaskets, which are made of V-shaped or W-shaped thin steel strips and various fillers alternately wound. In order to strengthen the main body and accurately position, metal inner reinforcement rings and outer positioning rings are provided, and the inner and outer steel rings are used to control the maximum compression.

 

Metal coated gaskets: made by mechanical cutting, the outside is coated with expanded graphite, asbestos-free board, ceramic fiber and other fillers with metal thin plates, which can effectively prevent the gasket from falling apart and the erosion of the medium. It can also be made into various special-shaped gaskets, such as elliptical, square, etc.

 

Metal corrugated gaskets: a metal composite gasket, firstly, a precision lathe or a special milling machine is used to process concentric corrugated grooves on the two sides of the metal flat gasket, and the tooth tips on the upper and lower sides are staggered, so that it has better compression rebound performance.

 

General characteristics: generally have the characteristics of high precision, strong tensile strength, good finish, toughness, and not easy to break. Among them, high carbon steel has a certain elasticity, and stainless steel has very good toughness and is not easy to break.

 

Special characteristics: Different types of metal gaskets have their own special characteristics. Metal spiral wound gaskets can withstand high temperature, high pressure and adapt to ultra-low temperature or vacuum conditions. The chemical corrosion problem of various media on the gasket can be solved by changing the material combination. The surface accuracy of the flange sealing surface contacted by the gasket is not high; metal coated gaskets have excellent corrosion resistance and good compression rebound rate; metal corrugated gaskets have better compression rebound performance.
